Stock Torque Converter Questions
I am putting my 2000 Z28 back to stock. I am having a tough time finding a stock converter locally.
What other stock converters will work in my car? It may be easier for me to find one out of another car.
I have done all the searching on this site and what I come up with is this:
04-06 GTO should work, although the 05's had a different pad placement.
Trailblazer with an I6 engine will work, but what years?
Is there anything I am missing here?

Any converter that was behind the v6, 4.8, and 5.3 with the 4l60 transmission 99+ will fit and work for what you are looking to do. Theres minor variations in stall speed and lockup clutch lining material, but not enough to matter.

You need an LS-style converter and they should all be interchangeable. I don't think your concern about an '05 being different is valid.
So basically an LS-engine from '98 on should work.
However the best performance ROI you ever get is with a quality converter such as from Circle-D.

haha. I probably shouldn't have dropped the v6 bomb for sake of simplification. I could have definitely been more specific. Here is the Dacco catalog. Reference page 145 for 4.3L application.

precision of new hampton converters are usually pretty cheap, or check rockauto.com for an OEM replacement, the alliance reman for my cobalt ss was 52 dollars after core return lol the precision of new hampton converter i just bought from triple edge performance was 150 after core return. Just put a DAACO converter in a honda civic which was also, 160 after core return.

The reputable shop in town that I've been using for things like case cleaning and some of the bushings uses DAACO converters and they seem to like them. They're certainly a bit cheaper than a custom made converter. I was considering DAACO as my first choice before I decided to go spend extra to go with a custom Circle D.
