Default transmission trouble

Stock 5.3/4l60e swap in a 55 Chevy. You can feel the car shift through all of the gears but it constantly feels like its in 1:1. If you let off of the gas at road speed, the car slows down like there's a drag. Car has a factory 3.7x gear. Getting horrible gas mileage but unfortunately there is no tach.

Have you tried shifting it through the gears manually?

Could the drag be the convertor staying locked in when you let off the gas? Try light pressure on the brake just to ensure that the convertor is unlocked. How horrible is the fuel mileage?

How is your convertor lock up solenoid wired up? Are you using the PCM to control it?

Try unplugging the brake light switch and take it for a test drive. If it has a lot more power on the test drive, then most likely something is wrong with the convertor lock up solenoid circuit.

well like i said , when it was first tuned he added something that would hold it back, he said some people like it to help not using the brakes as much , he also added a high idle on start up , i didnt like either , so i send the ecm back to him and he was suppose to remove them i dont think he did ,i dont know were to take to a tranny shop and like them plug it in or fine a tuner and have them look at it ,, either way ill you all know what i find

thanks

Where did you unplug the TCC wire? Sounds like the transmission went into "limp mode" and was taking off in 2nd if low end power was worse

I'm sorry but I don't have any tuning soft wear, so I can't help you there.
