Default 4l80e controller

before you blast me, I ran a search first on this before I posted, came up empty .
I am swapping a 4l80e behind my 454 in my 70 Chevelle, I'm going to run a Circle D converter (have not ordered it yet but talked to them,, good guys) it will be a multi disk converter with lock up.
what controller are you guys using? I have been looking at the MSD Atomic, and the TCI EZ controller,, any feedback on this?
The motor is a mild 450 hp, 550 ft lbs, 9 inch with 390 gears and a locker, 28 inch tall ET streets.
not going to be a race car, just a fair weather cruiser.
just looking to see what works for you guys.. thanks

What are you using for engine management first? If stock ecu why not let the stock ecu control the trans as well.

Also not sure why a multi disc would be needed for your set up. A single disk I would think would be perfectly fine and save you some cash on the flip side.

I assume since it is a 454 your are probably running a carb maybe an 850 or better. I have heard good things about the TCI EZ controller, especially the later version with the little screen for input. I have a 71 Chevelle, but tossed in an '08 Silverado motor with an lsa supercharger. I am using the truck's pcm to control the stock 4l80e and went with a base Circle D 3k stall for $500. Should be plenty for me.

I like the Compushift, one of the more expensive ones, but it has a ton of features, esp the display box-you can set it up as a speedometer also, although a cheap fix for no speedometer is one of those Garmin GPS deals
Compushift has now an added feature where you can mont. trans pressures on the screen

You could call Jakes Transmission. He has one that he uses, but I forgot the brand.

PCS controllers are the best ones available. Powertrain control solutions.

Sorry guys I just worked a 15 day stretch, 16 hours a day, the car is a basic old school carb big block 454, I run it with a msd digital 7, I was leaning toward the TCI unit with touch screen, I have no computer tuning experience, so that scares the hell out of me, I was trying to keep it simple, hoping someone here had ran the TCI or MSD

I have the TCI unit and cant complain so far. It was very simple to wire up/install. You dont get much in the way of adjustments though, only simple things like shift firmness, converter lock speed. Its easy to change tires size, rear gear, etc. I dont have any experience with other units to compare against though.
