4L60E to 4L80E Conversion
Recently bought a 4L80E and the buyer had mentioned spear tech. Just wanted to see what is needed to convert this up to a lq9. I have the bmr crossmemeber for this that came with it. Thanks

I'm buying the wiring adapter from "PCM of NC" and then they do a quick reprogram of my 1998 PCM. Thats it.

$250 for just an "adapter", which is not even the entire trans harness, seems steep.
Their description says "Max out one parameter, retune for your new shift points and you're on your way! No complicated OS swaps or hurdles to jump".
So, you still need to tune your PCM. However recent versions of HP Tuners let you easily swap in the 4L80E "segment"; from what I understand you then only need to repin a few lines.
However, I don't know if the '98 PCM supports the 4l80E "segment"; I recall conflicting reports about that.
People swapping from a M6 to a 4L80E will need the entire PCM to Trans harness including the connector. I think that suppliers like SpearTech sell these in the $250 range; this is steep but at least includes the full harness, connector and directions for pinning the wires into the PCM connectors.
I'm not trying to be critical of the 4L60E/4L80E adapter; just hinting at other choices.
And for a '98 PCM the adapter might be the simplest and cheapest solution.

The harness he sells is all you need. It plugs into the tranny....then into the PCM, and one of the speed sensors.
Then for $25.00 I send my PCM to him and he makes a couple changes.
Engine operates off the same tune and the tranny operates fully from the 1998 PCM.
