Default Torque converter not locking up.

To first start off I'll post the mods that are done to my vehicle. It's a 2004 Silverado 1500 2wd with a lq4 and 4l60e. The mods are tsp ls6 heads, ms3 cam, and a precision 3800 stall. Anyways I was driving on the highway and I put down about half throttle to get into the fast lane and after I disengaged the lockup from putting down half throttle it would not lock up again and won't go into overdrive. Prior to that I was in stop and go traffic. Any input on this issue would be greatly appreciated. I do have a couple of codes from the o2 sensors. P0131, and p0151. Other than that I don't have any other codes.

Ok I pulled of my plug wires and 6 of them came up at .43-.46ohms on 20k setting and one of them came up at 2.53 ohms on 20k setting. As well I had to build a wire to go around the headers and I have to bend the wire in the right position to get a reading and It's reading 25.00 ohms on 20k setting. I'm sure my dump time shop maxed out the misfire tables so would this cause the problem even though it's not throwing the any codes for a misfire? I'm a noob when it comes to working on vehicles other than dirt bikes or quads. I'd appreciate any advice given.

Would this destroy the converter it seemed to be shifting decently when I took it for a short test drive but the converter wouldn't lock up. I'm a newb when it comes to this stuff.

That gear is called the flex plate. I don't see anything wrong in the picture unless I'm missing something right in front of me.......

Is their suppose to be a cover there or something? It just doesn't look right things from the road could fly int the bell housing. Sorry for the dumb questions I'm clueless when it comes automatic transmissions.

Ya, there should be a plastic cover on there but that is not causing you any issues.

Does the converter even try to lock up?

Not at all it as well won't shift into over drive it drives ok from about 0-15 and around 20 it just revs up like if you were driving with the clutch engaged on a manual and feels like you dropped the clutch at 4K. Also when you get up to 40 mph the converter flashes to 5k and that's the only way it moves forward. Other than that at lower Rpms at around 40 mph it just spins instead of accelerating.

Can you tell when it shifts into second or is that when it free revs at lower speeds?

Have you tried manually selecting 1st and running it threw the gears that way?

Your post #10 sounds like some serious slippage even with a 3800 stall.
Have you check your fluid level?
You know it has to be checked with the engine running?
(Although 1" above the Full mark is a good starting point with the engine off.)

Yes I know I checked it with the transmission at 150 degrees with the engine idling. It was at the mid point on the cross hairs of the dip stick

Yes I've tried shifting it manually and does the same thing. I'm going to check out the valve body

Ok so I dropped the transmission and and I saw very small chunks of medal in the pan they were a tiny bit bigger than shavings. I dumped the converter out and it only had small shavings in it. Would it be ok to re use it without it being refreshed from presicion? I'm planning on completely washing it out to see if any chunks small metal chunks come out. Oh and merry Christmas!

First, if there are metal shavings you need to have the converter cut and clean otherwise all that **** will be pumped right into a fresh transmission and cause problems if not failure.

Second, if you are having converter locking issues and found shavings in your converter why wouldn't you want to send it in for a cut and clean and have them check out the lock up clutch?

That's what my plan is I was just hoping I could get away with putting it back in since this is my daily rig. I'll just go ahead and send it in. Thanks for getting back to me quickly.

You've got a problem in the transmission.

Ya I got a new one with a transgo shift kit, beast sun shell, upgraded clutches, and a corvette servo. I'm hoping it will hold through the 2 remainder years of the college I'm going to.

Ya, I would send the converter out and if you don't already...... add a massive transmission cooler
