Default Tci Th400 transbrake help

ok so I put a converter in my car it's a ptc 3800 converter which was in a buddy's mustang that made 700hp na and was hitting it with 250 of spray

im new to the th400 and transbrakes with that being said

i ran 11.30@119 1.5 60ft launching at 3000k foot braking it 9.98@135 1.4 60ft on a 200shot

now for my question I can foot brake til 3000 til it starts to push threw the brakes which is what I expected from a 3800 stall but when I hit the transbrake and mat it to the floor without the two step it doesn't stop the rpm I've gone as high as 6k and nothing my friends tell me it has to stop at the converters max stall but mine doesn't

so is there something I should be looking at or for is something wrong with the trans or converter I only noticed this when I tried to find where it held on the brake like I was told to do by some guys at the track any help is appreciated thanks

If everything is functioning properly it should stop at converters max speed. Are you sure you wasnt spraying while on the brake?

What rpm did you buddy have on the trans brake? If you make less power na you should stall lower than he did.

Either the converter you got stalls a lot higher(maybe the 3800 stall was mistaken for launch RPM with a 2 step) OR you have something going on in the trans/converter.

Try putting the car in 3rd and do a quick dry hop and watch the tach. You should get a fairly close indication of what the Converter is "flash stalling" to. this may help determine transmission or converter.

A couple silly questions but I'm assuming you have checked to make sure transmission was filled with fluid correctly and the converter out of the mustang was still a TH400 converter.

Make sure you have cooler flow as well and everything is flowing in the right direction. some aftermarket coolers have 1 way check ***** in them.

hey thanks for the reply I have a lokar braided dipstick and it shows full with the car on and hot and yes the mustang had a th400 but I'm not sure if it flashed what he said or if it was his launch rpm he just said it was a 3800 nitrous converter

lastnite I took the car around the block and threw it in 3rd gear at about 20mph and hit full throttle and the rpms held at 5k so I'm guessing it's just that the converter is really loose

Have you checked cooler flow? maybe get a hold of PTC and have them check that converter out.

not knowing EXACTLY what we're working with... probably looking in the 300-500 range.

The B&M coolers don't normally have a check ball so you should be good there. We can still check cooler flow by pulling the cooler line and starting the car. You should be able to fill up a gallon jug really fast(less than 30sec) if its flowing correctly.
