Trans question

I have the same truck as you and contemplating throwing this LQ4 I just picked up in there and run the 4L60 till it blows or I come across a 4l80 on the cheap.
In my opinion if you still have the stock 10 bolt and plan on keeping it, there really is no point in having an 80e. If the 10 bolt is alive, the 60e will live too.
A majority of the weight is the giant torque converter. I went with a 245mm which is a lot smaller and probably 15lbs lighter.
On the 10blt rear, I've been punishing my 8.5" 10 bolt for 16 years now.
Slicks and drag radials with a 8" treemaster that hard hits and flashed to 5k dead hooking at the track.
Stock 45yr old axles and all.

Looks like the only downsides to the 80e are weight and a slight power loss running the bigger trans. you wouldn't ever have to worry about it again really.

Gear ratios are only .04 off from the 350.
I haven't run it yet but the 5C converter hits hard but a smidge too tight at idle for my cam. 262/269 @ .050", .630 net lift
I "may" send it back to be loosened up a smidge at idle.
If that's possible.
