Default 4l80E low gear

Hi guys ! Hey I have a problem with a 4l80e.

If I manually shirt into low gear it acts as though the tranny is bound up. if coasting VERY slowly it will even stop the truck.

It is in a 1997 dually with a 454.

when I shift start with the selector in "D" and use little throttle it will act as though it is slipping until it reaches 2nd gear. If I accelerate at say half throttle it will act normal. I can easily spin the tires from stop so I really don't think its clutches.

Any advice ?

One of the most common 4L80E problems is a bad solenoid. There are 8 solenoids in the 4l80E and it sounds like it's either not sensing the proper pressure levels, or the pressure is off. Good luck.

there is a valve that is known for sticking also, or the little filter clogging up in the valve. id definetly look into the valve body components, pull it and test all the solenoids and check the valves too.

i forget which one it is. theres a couple youtube vidios that go over it, one is 2 hours long but if you go to the 1:30 mark it shows the beginning of the valve body build and repair.
just google 4l80e rebuild.
