Default 4l80e cooler lines

What size are the cooler lines on a 99-03 4l80e? This is swapped into my 2k z28, I'm having clearance issues on the rear fitting and drive shaft tunnel, i found a pretty slick banjo fitting from sweet performance that would work great i think, anyone ever used them? Thank you.

I have a set of those banjo fittings, I wondered if they were restrictive if you didn't get the holes lined up-just blowing thru it and rotating the bolt I could feel a diff-if there were some thin spacers avail. you could add them to get the bolt to line up with the nipple. They may work fine as is, just something I noticed. I have used the ones from Middle Finger, they were fine.

On my Camaro.....I reused the stock "Cooler Out" 5/16" hardline by tweaking it just a little to match the stock "Cooler Out" fitting on the 4L80E case.
Stock 4th gen F-Body cooler lines are 3/8" at the trans fittings & neck down to 5/16".

Used a Sweet Performance fitting for the rear "Cooler Return" fitting at the Trans, Along with a 1/2-20 SAE Flare to -6AN fitting at the Radiator Mounted Cooler https://www.summitracing.com/parts/e...SABEgJFofD_BwE
I DID cut about 3/16" off the end of the Sweet Performance fitting because it was hitting the Center Support when torqued down....Check yours!

Used straight Aeromotive -6AN fittings & SS braided -6AN hose for the cooler return.

This is how I plumbed mine, 170-180 TFT in 100 degree weather with the A/C on...Driving the **** out of it!

Clinebarger,
Oh boy, I guess I should pull mine out and check?
Will the end of it be messed up? How will I know if it is hitting?
I guess it could block/restrict flow?
The hottest it's been was 174* when I was sitting following a school bus waiting.
It's been like this for 650 miles

Also, I "thought" the red (hot) line whould hit the rad cooler 1st then to the aux then to the rear port.
Doesn't really matter as it's working for you!

Thank you for that info, so on the rear fitting from sweet performance, he offers a 1/4 and a 9/16, which one is the correct size?

Measure the external thread diameter of one of your existing fittings.

1/4" NPSM external thread diameter is around .526"
9/16-18 UNF external thread diameter is around .553"-.561".....Depending on the class.

I never saw the TSB on the change from 1/4" to 9/16" for 4L80E's don't know if this change ever actually happened with production models.

I run across this change on 4L60E's all the time & GM has a TSB on it.

I imagine that the end would get messed up a little if I torqued mine down, I don't think it would starve much for lubrication as the lube hole in the center support is only offset a little from the fitting center.....I didn't want any metal debris in my trans!!
Keep in mind that '97-early '99 center supports are different than Late '99 & up supports & the machining process could be different for the lube hole, Mine's a '97 model.
You should always check aftermarket parts!

I usually route to the Auxiliary Cooler first, It just worked out good for my car & great for my wallet. Most folks on here don't run a radiator mounted cooler.

I swapped my shift shaft. It doesn't work very well with long shift shaft 4L60E's, I didn't/don't even try with 4L80E's.
