Default Who makes the strongest 4L60E?

I need a new transmission. The problem is that my car is making over 430rwhp. I don't want to give up the 4th gear. Where can i get a VERY strong 4L60E?

In my honest opinion, there is nothing strong about a 4L60E, even if its built. From what I've read and heard, FLP has a 4L60E that a few people have been running succesfully.

i believe carl rossler can make one hold up but not sure it would hold up in a mid 9 second car.

My FLP Level 4 ran great for me. A 3,850lbs daily driver runnng mid 10s after driving to the track is a sign of some well built hardware. The tranny never skipped a beat.

There are other good options out there too like Rosler. Give the guys at both shops a call and spend some time with them on the Phone to discuss your needs. Chuck at FLP and Carl at Rosler will be happy to walk you through the options to fit you with their best products to meet you needs.

I gotta agree with Big Mike here, 4L60's aren't very strong, I've killed 3 of them and all of them were built. I'd say if you absolutely have to have a 4 speed then a built 200-4R is the way to go but you better have a fat wallet. Rossler and FLP are supposed to build some good 4L60's, I've heard FLP now offers a level 5 tranny. I'll stick with my TH-400 thanks.

the real problem with that trans is that in second gear you are just over driving low. that mean that the od in second gear sees 3.06 times engine torque. in other words if your engine makes 400lbs torque when you shift your 700 or 4L60E into second the od sees 1200lbs of torque. that breaks parts. here's the math (3.06-1) times .30=x+1 3.06-1=2.06 times .30=.618 or .62 +1= 1.62 and thats your second gear ratio. the od is used 3 times for second fourth and reverse. what does the 2-4 band do but put on the od?
