I have a 97 firebird formula that now has a 5.3 ls engine in it, 1 7/8 speed engineering headers, speed engineering y pipe, spintech 3" cat back, ls6 intake manifold, 232/234 comp cam, 3.73 gears, will go with a 2800-3000 stall. I'm looking at getting either the performabuilt 4l60e stage 1 or 2. My mechanic said that he's hoping I'll see around 400hp. Will the stage 1 be enough?? Thanks

 

The Level 1 would be sufficient however with the modest difference on price I would consider the level 2 for future growth room.

^^^^This. I was looking at the stage 1 as well and really didn't want to spend the extra money. However after talking on the phone with performabuilt it seemed well worth the money to go to the stage 2. And hey, you only want to change this thing once, right!?

 

op i would get a 3200 / 3600 stall , i have a 3k stall. if memory serves the performabuilt stg 1 doesnt come with upgraded servos so i'd order a stg 1 plus add billet servos & and a aluminum trans pan for help cooling. just my one cent.

The Level 1 does not come with billet servos but does come with a corvette 2nd servo and a deep truck style pan.

They can be added of course anything can but with the billet servos we prefer the wide band and the beast be added also I think you will find time you add those you will pay as much or more as you would for the level 2 .
