Default TH400 overflow catch tank/venting

Those that run Th400 for racing, is it required or necessary to run somekind of overflow catch can w/a breather for the trans? Thanks in advance.

Most tracks don't require it. If you're running a series like NHRA or NMCA check there rule book and see what they require. They're constantly updating them.

And we have a pretty sweet setup that mounts directly to your trans if you want to check it out.

FTI, Do you have any install pics of that setup? Trying to get an idea of how that mounts and if there is enough room in the trans tunnel of a 4th gen.
Thanks,
Matt

It just concerns me that maybe trans fluid may start leaking there while at the track. Should that be a concern? Or will that only happens if trans is overfilled? Too much pressure maybe? Just curious I guess.

I have an overflow tank on mine, I tried to drain when I did an oil change and it seemed to be empty, but it's better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.

My TH400 was tapped for an NPT fitting in the case where the overflow is.

Thanks,

These are Powerglides but the tank mounts to the pan rail the exact same way on the TH400.

Venting is usually caused my overfilling, excessive heat, or a cross leak.

My PERSONAL opinion is "Better to have and not need, than need and not have." and for that reason I would run one. But if your trans is setup and working correctly then there should be no venting.
