help rebuild 4l60e mild performance
hi, my silverado 4l60e just broke down( slips in 3rd )
i had another 4l60e sitting in my garage, from a proyect (1967 c-10 w 5.3)
so i put that transmission in my silverado and is already working.
so i have the bad trans... and want to rebuild and upgrade some.
can you suggest a rebuild kit brand (tci, huges, etc)
is the corvette servo a good idea?
transgo?
the C-10 will be a fun ride but also i want reliability
the 5.3 in the C-10 have headers, x pipe, 3" pipe, dual magnaflows. and migth receive a mild cam. nothing too wild.
thanks in advance for your help.
Neither TCI nor Hughes makes any of the parts in a rebuild kit and therefore a "brand" is meaningless. For basic rebuilds, pros buy "no brand" rebuild kits from their distributor and these kits are mostly generic parts, probably all made by the same company in China. For performance rebuilds, they chose things like better quality frictions for the 3/4 clutch, a few Sonnax parts, etc.
Here are a few older threads which will help you decide if you want to trying rebuilding a trans yourself and suggestions on what parts and tools you might need:

Feeler gauges, dial indicator. An air compressor, don't use rags or paper towels.
Torque wrench.
I buy my parts seperate, no one sells one kit with friction types, thicknesses, and everything else I want.
