I have tick recommendations but it just seems high I put a 3800 stall in it and it screams around town and smokes the tires when converter locks in. Don’t get me wrong it is fun but seems to me a 3000 stall would be better suited. Thought maybe someone has same setup as me and can give me a recommendation

I would go closer to a loose 4000.
Get a set of radial slicks and good to go

You have a 3800 in there now and don't like it ?

I guess it comes down to..... do you want to make more power at WOT or less power at WOT

So if cam makes power from 2200-6000 is lowering the stall to 3000 going to hurt the performance that much???

If it were me I would get rid of that loose, inefficient converter and get a Yank or something comparable.

Something like a SS 3600, SS 4000 or PT 4000. They will all drive soooooo much better than that tci.

If you are looking for performance then yes, there is a big difference in those stall rpms

So a yank 3600. I paid a lot for that tci it bolts directly to my ls from my 2004r can I get a yank that does that also ?

I had a TCI that was too loose everywhere.
I called a very well known company and they made a converter for me, they missed. It was just like the damn TCI except billet and $800+

Then I called FTI and they made one exactly like I wanted it. tight around town, damn near exact stall speed at wot.

So....not all 3800 rpm converters are loose around town.

I spoke with tci last week they said they could tighten my converter up and lower the stall to around a 3000 was quoted 175-250$$ to do the work. I have over $500 in converter already had to spend another $800 for a yank

TCI=JUNK Step up to a real converter. A good converter will be in the $800 range.

69, I wouldn't spend good money after bad with the TCI. Call FTI, Yank or Circle D and have them spec a good converter for you. I have a 4000 rpm converter from FTI and it has good street manners as far as I'm concerned and when you hit the gas it makes a huge difference over the 2800 - 3000 converter I had before.

I always thought TCI had good reputation I didn’t know they where so disliked by the LS car crowd. I always used them on my older sbc. That’s why I bought this one

What size did FTI spec ya ?

FTI, Yank, Circle D, etc. will all be night and day vs that 10" TCI.
