yes.....1-2 shift valve....( i do know my way around a VB ) main spring and smaller spring inside
did not notice until i was installing the valve and it would not go in because the smaller inner spring had hung up and the valve would not go in.....looked and thought ...WTF....there are 2 springs !!

before i took the VB out the 1-2 part throttle shift was a little on the harsh side
I replaced the 1-2 accumulator springs with ones clinebarger recommended ( took out the sonnax springs from the sonnax shift kit )
reduce the 1-2 separator hole from the 092 in the sonnax instructions to almost 082
modded the sonnax 1-2 piston to allow more travel
use the white light spring in the sonnax accumulator bushing line up
and finally......removed the extra spring ( it was pretty stout )
the 1-2 shift is firm but no more part throttle banging !!!!

If you have a smaller (green) spring that goes inside of the shift valve itself, then you most likely have the earlier TransGo setup and it should have a .265" checkball that goes in the valve first, then the small spring. Install the large spring first, then the shift valve with the checkball and spring installed outward toward the shift solenoid, then the 1-2 shift solenoid.

Dana as many as you have built i would guess you would have seen my problem....no its not the trans go valve with the check ball and spring ( i have installed a TG kit before ) .....stock valve
I'd look over the valve body diagram and measure the all the springs, put them where they go, toss that extra green spring.

i disassembled the VB when i first bought it...did not notice that spring or any other evidence of a previous kit install....i have disassembled the VB several times since then....never noticed the extra spring.....guess that spring will be a mystery up there with bigfoot...loch ness monster....and big boobed blonde 18 yr old nymphomaniacs
