Default 700r4 to 5.3

I have found some threads that deal with this topic but they are very old. I am sure (hope) technology has changed. My situation is I have a 700r4 that I want to mate with a 5.3. I have a fully rebuilt 5.3 that has a drive by wire TB. Question is can I use a drive by wire TB with a 700r4 or do I need to get a drive by cable TB? It all has to do with the TV cable on the 700r4.

you need the drive by cable in order to operate the throttle valve cable for 700r4. I just finished up my custom brackets for transmission and if you can tack weld it’s not that hard or go to sunbelt and rent a welder.

You should probably just get a 4L60E. It’s just an electronically shifted 700R4.

there is a bracket on the truck dbc that you can flip and retack and utilize. Run the tv cable under the passenger side fuel rails first bolt then over the second bolt to get the right distance of travel for cable to operate on tb.

What does any of that have to do with DBW?

I saw it done by using a combination drive by wire throttle pedal with a cable fitted to it for the TV cable. Not sure how well it worked but it worked for him.

Found a video on You-tube where someone did the same thing.

The OP wants to use a 700R4 with DBW. It's not possible. It looks like this is an option.

Even if the OP has a PCM without the drivers for the TPS and IAC finding one that does and converting it to DBC is cheaper than ruining your transmission. Still it's going to suck to get the tv cable geometry right, you can even see in the rig in the pictures is using a cheater spring.

It's not my suggestion though, I'd get a 4L60E. Theres no reason not to unless it's going in a C4 corvette or something where the 700 is actually needed (to mount the torque arm)

Now I notice the posting date is 9 months ago. The OP hasn't even visited the site since posting this.

But it is possible and has been done just as I posted.

Good Catch, I never noticed but I'm not a newbie that digs up old posts to reply to lol. I'm not sure why or how they find those old posts but it's almost always someone with a very low post count doing it lol

Forgot about hooking up the the dbw pedal. I’ve triple checked the geometry of the 5.3 truck bracket and it’s perfect. Going to put in a new throttle valve before test drive.
