Default Looking to get more serious. Need advice

Well as things break it is just another excuse to upgrade. I am about to shoot for a performabuilt level 2 trans. I currently have a 278mm circle D stall rated at 3000-3200. It's a fairly tight converter and honestly I can't even feel it until I mash the pedal. Since my trans is getting an upgrade I figured a converter would be a good idea. I guess to go any further with this you will need to know my mods.

LS1 stock bottom
Ls6 heads/intake
Lts and TDs
Lunati 222/228 113+4

TA, LCA, PHB, SFC
LCA relocation, TA relocation
Billsteins
-------------------------------
390whp 370wtq
smooth flat torque curve from 3000 up
Car is full weight plus 9". 26" tire.

What kind of converter should I be running to maintain streetability and good track times? I was thinking of a 3800ish stall with more torque multiplication? IDK let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

With a 3.70 rear gear I would run a 4000. It will drive plenty nice.

That's what I'm thinking as well. Got a nice cooler for it already as well. How's stop and go with a 4k?

As a general rule,
More torque multiplication=looseness,more slippage.
But that's gonna vary among/between convertor manufacturers.
Streetability also varies.
A 4000 with a STR of 2.0 from one manufacturer could be looser OR tighter of a 4000 with a STR of 2.0 from another manufacturer.

With my TH400 all the converter places for the exception of one said i should be running around a 4,000. Once my 4l60e comes out i have a yank SS 4,000 that was just freshened up if your interested

With a 3.73 rear gear and 26in. tire it's not bad at all. I don't daily my car but it would not bother me in the least for I have got stuck in stop and go traffic.

I'm in the process of having mine re stalled to a pt4400. I would say I'm not as sensitive to converter looseness as others also. Even if I had 2.73 rear gears I don't see it being a issue just to give ya a idea of where I'm coming from.

How high you spin your motor?

I spin to 7000 and with the pt4000 I see shift extensions around 6100 rpms. Looking to be around 63-6400

Ahh i see, FTI was really good to deal with man, i ended up getting one of their transmissions also after having my mind made up on a Coan Racing unit
