Default 4L60 pump alignment tool...

The pump to case bolt hole size looked real familiar, and it is, a 223 case drops right in with just enough taper to tighten it right up and finish with a band clamp.

If you do the pump before you load up the case you can loosely put the pump together and put it into the case upside down, then tighten the five pump bolts and it is aligned.

I used the leather belt off my jeans as a pump alignment tool.

Go to home depot and buy a large worm drive clamp for ac ducts. looks like a giant hose clamp. thats what i use. putting the pump in upside down in the case, sometimes the pump gets stuck. I got tired of that.

I haven't seen a single hose clamp long enough for this purpose, but two 12" long ones can be tied together and work perfectly.

It works better if you REMOVE the pump O-ring first...

I prefer not to use the reverse case method. You can still misalign the pump when doing that. There’s just enough clearance that the halves can be off a tiny bit, while it won’t affect operation, it does make it harder to take the pump back out if you need to while adjusting clearances. Just my personal experience. I’ve built well over 50-60 of these units. The big worm drive clamp is the best and cheapest method I’ve found so far. FWIW

While we are throwing out tips, here is one I use to prevent the spring from being "cut" by the pin. The "Bison" mod is one Brian Bissonette uses in his builds. It is just a washer between the pin and spring in the over pressure relief.

I just eyeball it. Also have a hole in a bench so it sits steady.

Any size that fits in there, though it needs a hole to let the fluid out in the event of over pressure.

I see you are in Ft Worth, I'm next door in Arlington.
