Unlock Convertor at 0% throttle?
Fellas. Quick question. Would it wear out my lockup clutch or have any ill effects if I set the convertor to unlock when I let of the throttle? Cruise mainly. It seems to be much less harsh on the decel with it unlocked. It coasts further and eliminates drivetrain slack noise and at lower speeds it slightly bucks when coasting down I notice it because I’m very critical but most people wouldn’t notice it. I tried it and the only concern is I let off at cruise, it unlocks and then locks back when I press the throttle. I was afraid the added lock unlock cycles would prematurely wear out my lockup clutch?

Yes, repeated lock and unlock cycles will prematurely wear out the clutch.
Just like repeated 4-3-4 shifts when towing will wear out the band
the question becomes...how much will it really affect anything
Keep an eye on temps...change the fluid fairly regularly...and make sure that when it does lock up...its doing it quickly and firmly.
I can't remember what you have for tcc reg lineup in the VB but that plays a roll

I know this is a completely different animal but the 05 Impala that I DD will unlock when coasting down a hill or deaccelerating and IIRC my son 02 WS6 does unlock when deaccelerating. My son also has a 06 GTO and it does not unlock like the other two. I guess what I am trying to say is GM made some of their cars that would unlock on decel. These cars have the Pulse Width lock up and a TC that has a woven carbon lock up clutch. I don’t know what type of clutch material is used by the aftermarket TC manufactures. With an on/off type tcc reg lineup it would seem like that would get annoying locking and unlocking all of the time.

Like I said my son's stock never been tuned 06 GTO says locked also. Maybe it's an Australian thing.

dfco definitely works on my car, it just cuts fuel on decel. It comes working from the factory. My 2017 Silverado has it too, when you let off the gas, fuel mpg goes to 99.9mpg
the lean cruise does work work on my car also. It only works on 04 model gto’s
on p01 and p59 pcm's I don't believe that DFCO or Lean Cruise works
Your 04 gto has both working thanks to a loophole because it's essentially an aussie car...which is the workaround or "trick" you can use on any other p01 or p59 btw

Exactly, the 04 gto was the only car that got through that the lean cruise can be easily enabled. . I’m pretty sure dfco still works on other computers however. On the hp tuners forums there’s a bit of info on it. And I know when I let off the throttle on my 17 Silverado, it does the 99.9mpg thing too because of the fuel cut off. Once you get to a certain speed,
