Jello once again. Yes it says jello. Anyways.
Last month, March 2022, 3 years and 4 months since my truck had first been abused by me. After going all out and spending a fortune for fuel doing drive cycle after drive cycle, only to have a light go off or the monitors not complete I finally decided I was going to have to do it! Do it? Why I didn't keep my stock cam I have no idea. I finally realized, after hearing absolutely no tunes to get a vehicle smog, that I needed to take the cam out and put a stock one back in. My gosh, do you know what a stock GM cam sold for . I replaced the water pump and fan clutch while I was at it. I ended up putting my old fan clutch back on because I didn't like sounding like a propeller airplane flying thru the neighborhood. Ridiculously loud, so loud I could not even hear my exhaust any more and its not quiet. I still have the monster and it has the 3300 stall in it. After a little while I had the stock cam back in and everything bolted back on. Believe me that is easier said then done. I did not pull the heads because I left all my parts in place except for the cam alone. Once the cam was in and fluids re-filled it started on the first try almost immediately. So i figured the next morning I would go do a cold start drive cycle. I did, but hardly ever will the monitors set on the first drive cycle if ever! So again, the next morning I figured I'd go for another drive cycle. This was now a Saturday morning. I got into my truck hooked up a reader so as to see the status of my monitors and ZI started it up and lo and behold all my monitors had set to ok. Obviously I said screw the drive cycle and instead drove to a smog shop. The smog shop can kiss my ***. I'll explain the next post.

I know I write too much so I'll finish my story. I went to the smog shop and in fact my truck passed almost.
These guys suck. The reason it didnt pass was because of my high performance coils. I'm like are you kidding me . This had only taken less than a half hour mind you. BTW the high-performance coils were installed 4 years before when they had passed my truck back then. So I said o.k. I'll be right back. That might have been part of the mistake. I live like 1 minute from this shop. I went home and seeing as I did save my coils I zipped those high perf ones off and re-installed my originals, and was back at the smog shop in under 30 mins. They looked at me with confusion. I told them I had kept my originals and that I live right around the corner. All they had to do was look to see my coils were replaced. That was the only reason I failed. I figured I'd be there maybe 15 mins. More than 2 hours later, with them running my truck on $7 a gallon fuel non stop, the guy would look underneath my truck every now and then checking everything on my truck like they wanted so badly to find something else wrong, something I tampered with. I of course gave them the look of death. My adrenaline was going crazy by the time they came back to where I was standing. Thank God for them they told me it passed. Holy crap I was gonna go off the handle. But I didn't. Now I'm driving my truck again. Yes with the monster transmission. Yes with all the work I have done to it , it actually runs. The only thing not still installed is the 3rd stage cam. Take care people. Thanks for letting me write my story here. CyA
