Default 4L80E into Fbody.......does it use the same factory 4L60E shifting linkage.....?

So it just goes up and in and the shifter will work like it did with the 4L60E? Just pop the linkage on just like with the 4L60E?

I searched and cannot find anything on that or that I need to buy anything specific to make the factory linkage work.

Thanks.,...

Does nobody use the search anymore. This was 12 seconds on google and one of the first links...it's in the first post of the thread...if you searched, you didn't search very hard. There are other threads out there that say the same thing.

"Stock shifter will work. I had to take the small bracket the where the shifter cable connects to the 4l60e and swap it out with the one on the 4l80e. Its the part on the trans where the gear changing occurs. The shifter cable will snap on this bracket. (sorry if it doesnt make sense) The part where the shifter cable attaches on the 4l80e is alot bigger then the 4l60e, but if you swap them out you'll be fine"

Good info. I just wrapped up my 4L80E swap into a Silverado originally equipped with a 4L60E and the shift lever doesn't quite reach down far enough to engage 1st. Feels like it just doesn't have enough throw. I have the 80E cable arm sitting on my workbench, should fix the issue.

Went through this same issue on my thirdgen, looking at either the b&m shifter. Was swapping out the cable the fix?
