Need help 4L60e
I have a 2003 gmc envoy 4.2 the Tran is out I bought another 4L60e to put in it and found out later it was from a 2002 k1500 5.3 so I swapped the bell housing and tail and put it in now I’ve got nothing it wont go into any gear is this not a possible swap or what am I missing?
By chance did you take any pictures of the 2 side by side. Did you seat the torque converter all the way in the transmission? One thing that is Coming to mind is different input shafts. But if you got a torque converter for the transmission out of the 5.3 you shouldn’t have a problem The transmission should work in that vehicle without a problem provided the torque converter is matched to the transmission

I didnt take pics but after swapping the bellhousing the torque converter that was with the 5.3 wouldnt bolt up to the fly wheel so i used the old one that was in my truck. Yes it was seated all the way .

The converter is most likely your problem.
You need to get a converter with for the new transmission to fit the flywheel that is on the engine
Did you put fluid in the torque converter before the install

I'm not sure on this but I don't think the 4.2 and 5.3 torque converters are interchangeable. Someone who knows more about the interchangeability hopeful will chime in. As for adding fluid to the torque converter before install you are fine. If the torque converter is seated in the pump correctly the pump will fill up the converter quickly. Besides if I understand what you have done the converter was used and therefore already had fluid in it.

I am also betting it’s an interchange problem with the torque converter and input shaft
Turns out the transmission is from a 98 and not a 02 like the guy said it was so the output shafts are different mine was a 245mm the new one is a 295mm so i ordered a spacer to go inbetween the flex plate and the crank .. but to answer ur question i put 14 qrts in and it did nothing..
