But on a serious note:
-A 60 series transmission would be perfectly fine in this application.
-The reason to go to an 80 series would be if some more power was planned for the near future.
-800HP around 4,000Lbs is a good point in which moving to an 80 series transmission would be money better spent over a 60 series.
Also the 80 series can and should be modified to consume less power than a stock 60 series.
With lightened planets, drums, and other components available; the 80 series weight is approximately the same as the 60 series.
(The weight reduction is actually for improved transmission performance and not really to lighten the vehicle).
I think what you described here is a "win, win, win" situation... I think you sold the 60e short with just 2 wins.
