4L60E vs 4L80E

Default 4L60E vs 4L80E

My car is just under 400 HP with an occasional 150 shot of NO2. Can I get by with a built 4L60E with a Yank SS 4000 torque convertor or should I go with a built 4L80E with the same convertor?

Personally, I'd do the 60E. It's as good as the 80E, it even robs less power than the power sapping 80, nor does it weigh 300 pounds like the 80. It's a win win situation.

Not to ruin the fun... please continue.

But on a serious note:

-A 60 series transmission would be perfectly fine in this application.
-The reason to go to an 80 series would be if some more power was planned for the near future.
-800HP around 4,000Lbs is a good point in which moving to an 80 series transmission would be money better spent over a 60 series.

Also the 80 series can and should be modified to consume less power than a stock 60 series.
With lightened planets, drums, and other components available; the 80 series weight is approximately the same as the 60 series.
(The weight reduction is actually for improved transmission performance and not really to lighten the vehicle).
