recommendations for a stand alone controller 4L80E
Im pretty sure I ll have to add a TPS and a tach signal
but have never done one so fire away.
Second option would be build a 200-4R to hold up to 500WHP
Makes it full manual shift.
Or, us shift, compushift, etc...most need a throttle position signal and an rpm signal. Both can be added to carb motor pretty easily
by the time I factor in the controller,a 4l80e built for that is north of $2k
wondering if a 200-4R with some billet parts will be more cost effective.
They have lots of experience with them.
500hp/600ft lbs should be well in the range of a 2004r. Will probably need a billet fwd drum, billet servo, new sun shell, new stator tube, I'd probably go with an input shaft. Then you need to properly handle the hydraulics.

The THM200-4R units can be built to handle 1,000 HP or so when done by the few people who "actually" have success with them... But cost more than a 4L80E at the same power level. Not the best investment choice over a 4L80E.
A proper built THM200-4R will perform well and last (@600 Ft/Lbs) but will cost over $2,000.
Yes of course they can be built cheaper... and a bunch of guys would probably try to sell you one cheaper...
But it won't work out... I have great experience building both of those transmissions for 1,000 HP.
If someone sells you a level 1 billion THM200-4R for $1,700 it is a scam... They simply cost more when done right. Sorry.
