4L80E End play issues
rear endplay was .004-.005
reaction carrier felt like .012ish by feel.
forward clutch hub float i was told was eliminated with this new style of hub.
so i just did some measuring and the distance between the top and bottom pads (where the thrust washers or bearings sit) of the stock hub plus its plastic washer is .426 inches.
same dustance plus the bearing on the sonnax hub is .475 inches. Difference of .049 inches thicker on the sonnax unit.
this is all minus the stock bronze washer considering it is common to both units and is not a variable. It is .055 thick
this would lead me to believe that i am -.040 front endplay with the sonnax hub, and -.030 with the other milled sonnax hub they sent me to test.
Right now i am going to install the sonnax unit with no bronze washer. If im correct it should give me .015ish endplay. If this is the case i know what i have to do to achieve clearance, find roughly .048ish clearance somewhere. I hope they make a .042 or .052 pump shim...
Im over this bullshit.
First video is not prying up on the rear. About .021 or so to take up the snapring play i presume, then .010 extra. Total of .031 movement
Second video I AM prying up on the rear, as you can see in the beginning. In this video the preload moves the needle about .010, then i pull it up .031 in one single thunk...
Thoughts?
