4l60e blown tranny need help Hello i have a 1999 camaro z28 ls1 heres my story i was driving to work tranny shifted good no issues no check engine light i was on my way to san francisco as i got to the toll plaza i was waiting for my green light to go once it did i tried to gas it but didnt run normal i had to redline it in order for me to go 65 mph speed limit my question is is my transmission blown cause ive also heard about a certain fuse that goes out that makes the transmission not work correctly is that true? Weird to me that my tranny was running good and once i passed the toll plaza it just wouldnt run normally i had to be at 6000 rpms for it to go freeway speed limit 65 mph. Blown tranmission ? Or whats the issue pleaae help!!!

Yeah, this is NOT a blown fuse issue. When the fuse blows, the trans goes into Limp mode, which is 3rd gear only with no slippage.
As a wild guess, I think you suddenly lost a lot of trans fluid causing the massive slippage. As stated then driving the car smoked the trans.

Did a whole new tranny swap my mechanic let me know that the previous trans pan gasket was shredded and leaking major trans fluid and it was real dark not even res no more. I got a question for the new transmission i purchased a high mileage ATF my ls1 has 120k but the new tranny i swaped in has 90k i purchased 5 quarts of high mileage ATF for GM cars that took dex iii and dex vi it was red fluid what it had before its not ACDelco brans but oreillys brand is that ok? I wantes to put royal purple Atf but my mechanic recommended not to use royal purple.

Trans fluid type is incredibly non-critical
I've had customers put 1000hp through the cheapest dex3 they could find at sams club.
Just make sure the bottle says it meets Dex3 specs...then make sure you get the trans full...and you'll be fine.

So when you use words like "NEW" tranny means its got 90K miles on it ? Never seen a pan gasket shred to the point that it just suddenly starts leaking really bad, most likely it has been leaking for awhile and you were just getting by and not feeling the slippage it had. (debate required ? NOT !) What type of pan gasket did you use on the "NEW" trans with 90K miles ? Did your mechanic put extra sealer on the rubber gasket from Oh Oh Reilly's to ensure no mo leakage ? When he tighten down tightly on the pan bolts did the sealer start working better on the rubber gasket ? I never use the rubber gaskets or sealer, on trans pan....I see so many DIYer's putting the rubber gasket that is wadded up in the filter box which 9 out of 10 leak.....I use croak gaskets with NO sealer......
So the 90K trans is used not new ? But its NEW to the car ? Just trying to understand the NEW, swapping, words that are used on this site....Thanks !!!
