Sounds like 3-4 clutches are gone. Do you see a DTC code for "P1870"?

What happens when it should shift into 3rd? Does it stay in 2nd and just rev higher and higher?
Or does it feel like it shifted into neutral?
Put a scanner on it to look for codes.

thanks guys fo your feedback ,its strong in 1st 2nd no hesitation, when going to 3rd it acts like it hits neutural , when i put this transmission in ,there was no sign or smell that would indicate burned anything, all three transmission ive installed do the exact same thing ,ive also tried a different transfer case.,im thinking it has to be electrical issue, i will see if i can get a code to pop up, and get back to you, I really dont know what to check on electrical side, because i dont know what runs the transmission, and my speedometer and gear select display and tachometer all went out at the same time, they say no speedo no shift , thank you for your response, i appriciate it.

If it feels like it hits neutral, it sounds like the clutches are gone. Would be quite odd to have three bad units but 3-4 clutches is a very common issue. I would think after the second trans, you would have done it right and had it rebuilt instead of keep putting junk yard units in. I’d never do that, you have no idea of the history or condition of it. Like a roll of the dice.

Yea, if you have no speedometer indication, it won't shift. Either bad VSS or bad wire from it.

You hit the nail on the head!

VSS should be in the transfer case...
Making 3 different transmissions all act the same.

Any of those different transmissions may have other problems...

But the VSS or VSS circuits are the most likely major issue.
