Default Looking for a 4l80e rebuild kit

I am looking for a rebuild kit for my 4l80e. It has a lot of miles on it but is not blown up. I'm not doing anything too crazy with it. I am starting with a 450-500hp daily driver. Not a race car. I got a recallibration kit from Jakes to install. I figured I would see how everything looks as I am taking it apart to install that kit. I am on a pretty tight budget. I wanted to know which rebuild kits are recommended and what is definitely needed. I know some kits come with a molded piston and some don't. I know I want high energy frictions and stock steels. I would love to get a kit from Jakes or one of the other builders but it is just out of my price range. Are there any budget kits with frictions and steels that any of you would recommend? Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

Do you already know what you need/ want to purchase... and just wish to know where to do so less expensively?
-OR-
You also need to be told what to purchase?

I can point you to some places that retail closer to wholesale prices...
But if you need someone to put together a huge list of parts; then that unfortunately takes time... and time is money.

Thus we are back to the parts being expensive when assembled into a kit/ package.

I'm looking for less expensive places to buy a kit. I am looking for a kit with new high energy clutches, steels, gaskets, molded pistons, and bushings. Thanks for your help.

Okay...

So you do NOT know what parts you need... That's what I figured.
I am sorry.
I actually did this for free, for many years... but do not anymore.

However, putting together a list of 50 to 300 parts and pieces is quite time consuming.
Once you can do some more research... take a look at the following website names:

-Cobra Transmission parts
-Global Transmission parts
-Transmission Parts USA

These seem relatively cheap compared to most retailers...
I own a business and purchase parts for what you would consider to be wholesale... so i can't give you my sources.
Sorry.

Try those businesses.
Note: LS1Tech does not permit me to post URL/ web addresses for businesses that are not sponsors.

Good luck!

LOL! Thank you.

Your mentality would be the primary reason that my business has absolutely nothing to do with the website.
Too many people crying that I do not give out free stuff.

You will never find me trying to sell anything to anyone on this site.
I actually direct most everyone here to a sponsored business.
I could not be more considerate in helping other peoples businesses and members here for FREE!

Sorry you feel that way...
When NOBODY else even responded to your thread...
At least I gave you the names of three businesses that sell to anyone at cheap prices!!!

Good Luck with that attitude!
I wouldn't sell you a $7.00 oil-filter if you offered $7,000,000.

No attitude here. Just trying to learn and save money where I can, just like a lot of people on here.

I never asked anyone to list any items out. I was just looking for less expensive retailers. All I was asking for was for someone to point me in the right direction, not do all the work for me. No one responded after a day. I get it, people are busy.

Sorry you think you should be paid for every word. Do you charge by the minute when people call to order parts? Maybe a public forum where you can't be paid for your thoughts is not the best place for you. But what do I know right? I just thought this was a place to support and help each other. Take care and best of luck!

You cried about it in post #5.

This went sideways way quick

vorteciroc is insanely generous with his time on this site along with others.
You won't find a better automatic transmission section on the interweb than here, I promise.

I apologize. I know everyone is probably stressed out with everything going on and tensions are high. I know they sure are for me. I wasn't trying to be a jerk and I think vorteciroc probably wasn't either. I think we just had a misunderstanding and things escalated.

I totally understand not wanting to list out a hundred parts for everyone anytime they want a question answered. That does take a lot of time and is too much to ask. I was not asking for that. I'm sure I could have done a better job in wording my post.

I HAVE done some research and, just like everyone else, still have a lot to learn. I was just looking for a retailer with good pricing for a rebuild kit.

Thanks to everyone for their input and recommendations. Again, sorry vorteciroc for the misunderstanding.

You can also check out Whatever It Takes Transmission Parts. If you call your local dealer they are sometime cheaper than their online store.

I quit selling parts a few years back because of how time consuming and a pain it is.

It is a distraction from the primary business of building transmissions and there wasn't enough markup to even pay the person packaging the parts if they made minimum wage.

I decided to start again but we weren't trying to be the low price leader. There are plenty of Ebay sellers who will sell you an incomplete kit with no tech support.
I've been slammed on this very forum for not selling a less than complete kit. Somebody wanted a partial kit and we don't sell it that way. He seemed to think I should do whatever he wanted when there are a multitude of reasons why we sell only a complete setup. I can't go to Walmart and buy just the marshmallows out of Lucky Charms cereal...

So ya, there are cheaper methods to buy all the parts to build a 4L80E, but then you get to piece it together from various vendors and still won't have the parts that come in a kit designed for and by performance 4L80E builders.

You could pull it down and just replace whats needed, all seals and worn bushings, all clutches. You still could have worn hard parts, even if it worked OK. What year trans, as it will determine if you need molded pistons. Average kit is $300-350 off Ebay-do you have trans tools, bushing drivers, etc, that can run things up. Like you, I am always on a budget, but sometimes I spend a dollar trying to save a dime, lol.
