4l80e dipstick swap question

Default 4l80e dipstick swap question

So I am trying to figure out a dipstick solution on the cheap and wanted to see if anyone had any good ideas. The engine is a 2006 l33 5.3 and the transmission is a 1996 4l80e. The stock dipstick would fit great but it mounts to one of the bell housing bolts that does not match up on the engine. I was thinking of tapping it for a short bolt or using epoxy to attach a nut. I just need it to hold the dipstick in place. Anyone have any better ideas? I'm sure I'm not the first person to run into this. Thanks in advance

I've seen guys drill and tap the block

I've seen guys actually tap the bellhousing to a large bolt size then just thread it in like a stud and hold the dipstick that way.

I've seen zip ties...so so many zip ties

You could get a cushion-clamp, wrap that around the dipstick tube, and then bolt that to one of the threaded holes on the back of the cylinder head.
I may or may not do that; I haven't made up my mind yet.

I cut the tab off the dipstick tube, moved it up so it would bolt to the back of the head and welded it back

I use a cheap lokar copy. it sucks but G body clearance is pretty tight with the turbo kit i have.

I use a 3/8" nut and press it into the back side of bellhousing. Then use a short bolt for tube.

The holes are counter bored so the nut won’t go all the way through. This is a 1/2” nut which is loose and needs silicone. 3/8” requires some work but can press in.
