2005 corvette auto transmission 4l60e?

Default 2005 corvette auto transmission 4l60e?

what kind of transmission does the 2005 auto 4 speed corvette have? same 4l60e as 2000 camaro z28 and 2004 gto ls1? are tailshafts different. What would you need to fit a 04 gto 4l60e or 2000 ss ls1 transmission in the 2005 corvette that has a broken transmission?

Your 05 Vette C6 has the 4l65e. RPO "M32".

DONT buy a used tranny. Repair your's.
Contact Ryan from Performabuilt for that. These guys create some killer 4l's.
Your tranny is gold. It holds (520 N⋅m) of torque STOCK. It has 7 frictions and 5 pinion planets.
Switching a Vette 4l65e to a 4l60 would be a huge downgrade.

Or contact Chevrolet and ask how much the Supermatic
4L75-E costs. It's an OEM beast and a direct replacement to the 4l65e

The camaro never had your tranny, the Pontiac GTO only had it years 2005–2006 [M32, 3.46:1 final drive)]

Corvette 4L60E family transmissions are not interchangeable with non-Corvette transmissions.

To swap one transmission from one to another...
The entire transmission needs to be disassembled to change the output-shaft.
The bell-housing and other parts also need to be changed as the Corvette transmission does not attach to the engine.

The corvette transmission is attached to the rear differential (in the back of the car obviously).
A "Torque-Tube" attaches to the back of the engine, and goes all the way to the back of the car where the transmission is (no drive-shaft is used).

The 5 pinion planets are weaker than 4 pinion planets.

Did you use the GM Ones?
Alright, No 5 planets and no sonnax checkvalve. I'll tattoo that to my GF's forehead and show it to people xD.

Yes, but only for testing... I need to find an old post of mine for you.
I was also an Engineer for GM at the time these 5-pinion planets were conceived...
They are junk... and yes the aftermarket versions are even worse.

"DO NOT replace 4 pinions with 5 pinions. I've never ever (even in 1000 hp 4000 lb cars) seen a 4 pinion blow up. Ever. I've seen them get ruined from lack of lube...but a 5pinion will suffer the same fate. The 5pinion is actually different in construction than the 4 pinions and really no stronger."

Just when I think the "5 pinions are junk" horse has been beaten dead....it decides to come up again haha


For anyone reading, Myself, Vortec, and multiple others have shared multiple times that EVEN OEM 5 pinions offer no benefit and are likely a detriment compared to a good condition 4 pinion

If you decide to replace the torque converter at all make sure you get a 2005 specific converter. 2005 and 2014 Corvettes are both odd years where the converter ONLY fits those years.
