Default 4L60E vehicle speed sensor wiring question

Hi -
I have a 2wd 4l60e from a 1995 Suburban that I am putting behind a 2006 5.3L (L33). I have made my own harness from a 2005 2wd Silverado. I have read the sticky's and didn't find my answer.

I just noticed the connector for the vss on the tail of my 1995 transmission is not the same as the plug on the 2004 harness. My harness has a purple & white wire (vss high) and a green & black wire (vss low) going to the vss plug.

My plan is to go to a pick and pull, find another 1995 2wd 4l60e, grab the plug that fits my transmission and solder it into my harness.

The only thing I am not sure about is how to wire it. Has anyone done this? Which coloured wires do I join together?
Thanks in advance.

Does the 1995 Harness/ Connector for the VSS look like this:

Or like this:

The 2006 version, should look like this:

The socket in the side of the transmission looks like the same shape as your first image, an oval like that. I haven't gotten the 1995 plug yet so I'm not sure if the colours are the same as in your image.

The last image you posted is what is on my 2005 harness now. It is much smaller than the socket in the 1995 transmission

Actually, now that I look more closely at your first two pictures I am not sure which one matches the socket on the side of my transmission. Unfortunately my transmission isn't at my house so I can't just go look at it.
Is there a difference in the way it would be wired?

No.
All three versions of the VSS connector are wired the same way.

Thanks for the feedback.

So for my situation I would connect my purple & white wire to either the purple & white wire or the solid purple (depending on my transmissions socket) and connect my black & green to either of the yellow wires?

Yes, that would be just fine.

I'm curious to know how this went as i have the same situation. i have a 1995 suburban 4l60e pcm and harness. I reduced down the harness and am trying to create an independent controller except I didn't know to grab the vss box and no the suburban is crushed. did you need this vss box to for the pcm/ecm to properly control the trans? and how did you run the speed signal to operate on your main harness for your speedometer? thanks!

Transmission outputs 40 pulses per revolution AC signal and PCM requires a 2000 or 4000 pulse per mile sqaurewave DC signal. So YES you will need a VSSB/DRAC. The DRAC will translate the signal for the PCM, speedometer, cruise control, etc

Hi, sorry for the delay. What I did was I cross-referenced pages from LT1swap.com to make it work. On my 2006 LS wiring harness the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) high output is a purple and white wire on the green connector, pin 21. VSS low output is a light green and black wire on the green connector, pin 20. https://lt1swap.com/2003-07pcmpinouts.pdf

The connector that plugged into the speed sender on my 1995 Suburban transmission had a purple and a yellow wire. according to LT1swap.com yellow is VSS high output and purple is VSS low output on that transmission. https://lt1swap.com/lt1_pcm_pinout.htm

I soldered the ppl/wht wire on my harness to the yellow wire on my plug end, and same with the lt grn/blk wire to my ppl plug wire, plugged it in and it worked!

Granted I am not using any fancy gauges, I just have an ultragauge plug-in unit.

Hope this helps.
