Not only do you get the added surface area and better holding material(carbon/Kevlar mix) you also get better surface engagement due to the billet steel parts not flexing under load like the stamped steel factory parts can do.

The converters SOLE purpose is to take whatever output your motor is making and transfer it to the transmission. Because of that it can make a world of difference between the car feeling great to drive/race or leaving you wanting more, so choose wisely.

Now is that 450whp or 450 crank hp? And do you happen to know the stock torque converters power limit? Any idea on tci converters? I seen yours the cheaper one for 629$ from summit.

All of our ratings are at the crank.
Our SB Series of converters are an upgraded version a factory converter. We furnace braze and tig weld fins, install a better lockup clutch, add bearings in place of washers, and raise the stall. We still only rate those converters 450HP.
I'm not going comment on TCI's product since we do not manufacture them. I will say like most other converter brands we can service them.

Got off the phone with TCI they had converters listed for a c5 97-04 corvette. He told me no we dont make any torque converters for that year 1999 corvette and started to get upset and chew me out when i mentioned they're website had a series of converters listed for c5. He said they were all listed wrong. So i guess tci is a no go on converters. Your cheapest FTI converter is a 2800 stahl for a c5 99 corvette and uses stock factory c5 y plate bolts? I probably wont ever make over 400whp considering its an auto stock shortblock car but plan on doing a cam in the near future and was looking at converters. Everything is in the 1000$ price range. Your economy 630$ converter is a lock-up converter correct?

FTI Performance ESRL3380

04 and down Corvettes will accept any normal 30 spline 700R4 converter. The ESRL you mentioned will work and as you stay within the 450 CRANK hp rating and don't do anything abnormal with the lock up tuning then you should not experience any issues. Yes the ESRL series is a lock-up converter and will fit a factory flexplate with factory M10 bolts.

So on the size is it a 10" or 12" converter or are both the same size. For some reason i was thinking the exterior dimensions of the c5 converter was smaller. So youre saying any 700r4 30 spline converter will fit the c5 corvette or it has to be the 80s-90s CORVETTE style 30 spline 700r converter? Also do you happen to know what factory torque convert tag says. Mine has DHHG24205575 Is this the stock converter number or a reman/aftermarket stock style? Thanks for your help

Not sure on the factory tag...
ESRL is a 9.5" converter
SB2400LT30 is a 12" converter
2004 and older Corvettes take a normal 700R4 converter, 2005 takes a special design only for that year, 06-13 have there own design as well, 2014 is by itself with a standalone design, and then the 2015 and up 8 speed vettes have their own design.

The 2 converters mentioned above will fit.

May i ask is the standard corvette converter on the ls1 a 12" im assuming in diameter and 10.75" bolt pattern 30 spline lock-up. You're saying that any 700r4 30 spline lock-up converter will work on the corvette ls1? Any idea what lock-up or clutch summit or jegs uses in comparison to your FTI economy racer? Are they all the same lock-up clutch rated to 450 crank or did earlier 700r4 converters use a different lock-up that would maybe be weaker?

If you are referring to 2004 and older corvettes as the "LS1 vette" then yes they have a 4L60E but take a factory 700R4 converter which is a 30 spline, 298mm style input shaft and a 10 3/4" bolt circle.

I can't speak for the parts or quality of the other brands but our ESRL series uses the factory 245mm stamped steel cover and piston for lockup.
