I need some advice on picking a transmission cooler.
My needs aren't complex; it's a stock '06 Silverado, 5.3 2wd.
Basically, I want the biggest, most badass cooler I can fit, but I don't want it to cool the fluid too much, either.
I've heard about aftermarket thermostats to control the temperature, but the external ones seem too complicated, and the coolers with built-in thermostats only have barb fittings, and I heard those can make my truck explode.
Is there any way I can put a thermostat inside the transmission pan?
This thermostat is for an '06 Silverado, and I think this will fit inside the pan, and won't interfere with the lines:
While I'm on the subject of cooler lines, steel lines are way too hard for me to bend, but I don't want to use any type of hoses; they might get tangled around the intake and choke off the air supply.
Does anyone make a product that could teleport the fluid into the cooler and back to the transmission? That would save a lot of problems.
Also, I'm on a budget; is there a place where they are giving this stuff away for free?

As a quick search will show definitive options, parts and discussion on external transmission coolers, I am closing this thread.
While a question about putting a radiator thermostat inside the transmission might be funny on April 1, or sending your kid to the parts store to buy blinker fluid and a transmission thermostat, it serves no educational purpose here.
If you guys think I should just delete this post, I will be happy to do so.
BTW - I'm having a private conversation with matermark and I will help him find the info he needs without the "trolling" posts.
