Default More 4l80e woes

I was finally able to take my project for a drive around the block! Unfortunately, the 4l80e that I built is having some issues. I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction to help sort it out. I am using Holley Terminator X Max to control the transmisssion. I have checked the fluid level and it looks good. I calibrated the dipstick when i had it all apart. Park, Reverse, and Neutral seem to work fine. When it is in park, it displays 1 on the terminator gauge display but it won't move and acts like it is in park.

When I start out in OD or D, it almost immediately shifts to 2 and doesnt shift to 3 or 4. The shift from 1-2 is extremely soft and I have to rev it to about 2000RPM to get the car going. When i come to a stop, it does not downshift to 1.

I am happy to drive around and make a datalog or check anything else that might be helpful. I am crossing my fingers that I wont need to pull the transmission and take it to someone but it is not looking good. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Did you load the 4l80 tune? Terminators don’t come pre loaded.

The trans control wire harness can need a couple pins moved for the differences between a 4l60 and a 4l80.. fwiw..
The Holley terminator forum has a lot of coverage on these items..

Thank you! That makes a lot of sense. Electrical issue definitely seems possible.

Man, sorry to hear you are having issues. Your other thread is awesome BTW. I hope it's something small/tuning.

I rebuilt a 95 4L80e last year and I'm rebuilding another one for my brother. It's challenging, but with guys helping out each other on this forum, it makes the help invaluable.

Thank you! I have learned so much on this forum. I don't feel as bad about my screwups if it helps someone else out! All signs are pointing towards an electrical problem so I'm gonna put my multimeter to good use this morning and will be sure to post up an update.

Well, it was a simple fix after all. I had the connector for the transmission in backwards! It shifts through all the gears just fine. It still feels like it's kinda slipping/dragging in first but I suppose that could be in the tune. Definitely exciting!
