I certainly agree on using a brand name filter.
Many (too many!) quality parts are made in China by US/Euro companies, but they at least try to maintain high standards and inspect samples.
Its the "clones" made by Chinese owned companies that are often shoddy and dangerous.
Unfortunately some of the auto parts sold even on Amazon under a brand name turn out to be inferior clones. Walbro fuel pump come to mind.

Make sure the filter says FILTRAN or SPX on it. I have seen Delco, Fram, WIX, etc that say this FWIW...

Fixed a customers unit today. 03 h2 hummer. Complaint was no movement when warm. Pulled pan had metal shavings in it. Most likely torque converter issue. Customer said try quick easy gix route for time being. So new filter and 5qrts of fluid. Shifts like a dream. Filter and fluid fixed it!

same exact problem not many other people have this issue. Could be pump or torque converter I suppose. Has intermittent whiney noise. Anyone know the cause of this I’m desperate to know. I have a tranny waiting to go in. Should just do it. Doner tranny has its own issues and me broke as ***.

In addition I swapped to a new filter and new oil. Not terrible amount of material in pan leaning towards a trans Case problem
