Default 99-06 4L60e V6 vs V8 differences

Another 60e question, around me 2wd v8 4L60e transmissions are not common unless from the 4.3 v6 trucks, and I am looking for transmissions to use in my 99-06 gen 3 engine swaps.
Internet is full of conflicting information as usual.
Other than the bell housing swap is the anything else needed to bolt one up to a 5.3? Is this the same as running a pre LS trans and just needs the crank spacer and open up the flexplate to converter holes? Are they weaker than the V8 units?
Thanks for any info.

It would be same as running the pre ls1 trans just need spacer as you mentioned, Not much difference in strength other than may have a weaker servo but a 4.3 should already have the right bell to do that set up, Now the 5cy and 3.4 , 3.8 wont work.

Swapping from one Engine Family to the another, requires the following Components:

1: Bell-Housing.
2: Flex-Plate and Crankshaft Spacer.
3: Pump/ Stator Support.
4: Turbine-Shaft/ Input-Drum.
5: Torque-Converter.

+Corresponding Gaskets and Seals.
Note: Turbine-Shaft O-Ring also is different when changing Engine Families.
Some of you Cheap guys would want to re-use the O-Ring... But it will not fit!

The 4L60e I pulled from my 1999 Silverado NBS V6 2wd had the top LS bellhousing bolt hole (obviously, it was empty on the engine block) and the 300 mm input shaft and matching torque converter. I've posted some photos on a few threads.

I assumed they are basically all the same me mechanically on the V6 vs V8 in the GMT 800s, but it does seem there's some differences electrically and on the valve body. There's a helpful link that talks about year differences. So I would say if the transmission in question falls within the correct year bracket for your truck, it should work. Assuming it's good to begin with of course.

In 1999 GM started using an LS based transmission & a 300mm converter in the full sized trucks. I think the Express/Savana vans started in 2001. S10's and Blazers were the 298mm stuff through the end of production in 2004 model year.

so would a 4l60e from say a 2000 v6 Silverado be the same as one from a v8 truck? Looking for units that do not need tear down or major hard parts to be able to be used.

It should be, the only way to be 100%. It to look at the bell-housing casting #. It is located around the outside of the starter pocket. It should be 24206952.
