2000 gmc Sierra 1500 with 4l60e transmission lost all gears
Truck has lost all gears. Thought it was the torque converter since it would stall when put in reverse or drive and since there was a grinding noise coming from torque converter. At first it would move about 100 feet then not move an inch until I restarted the truck and move another 100 feet then do the same and eventually it stopped moving at all. Replaced torque converter reinstalled and still the same any ideas of what to check?

So replaced filter thinking maybe it was clogged and sure enough it had a lot of junk in it. Put everything back in with new filter and now it’s back to stalling when put in gear. I have a p0708 code for transmission range sensor but I just replaced it since the old one would try to start the truck when put in drive. Any advice on what to check next thx.

My guess would be some issue with the TCC valve and or solenoid and the converter clutch was destroyed due to that which is where your material came from, But the down side is this will also be in your pump and lube areas and you will now destroy this one too and even if you solve the TCC issue. The trans will need to come out and be cleaned out , checked for pump damage or restrictions along with lube feeds all through trans,
No in vehical fix here sorry .

Sorry, dude, but it sounds like you're looking at a teardown/ rebuild.
Pro tip*: any time you see a bunch of "junk" in the filter or pan, it needs to come out, and at the very least be disassembled to find out where it came from. The junk didn't come from nowhere.

I agree its all about whats under the belt and of course some of us are pros and some novice compaired to someone else and none of us knows it all, And that is where you find the best, Those who realize no matter how much they know , More is out there to be known. I learn and discover new stuff every day and even with near 40 years experince and literally building 700r4 and 2004r in the early 80s and actually using my friends dads lathe to make a bigger servo for the 2004r back then, Wasnt even aluminum was some softer pewter type metal bar his dad just happned to have but it worked and worked well . I would still far from claim to be the end all know it all and Im learning daily.
