Default 4L60 won’t shift out of first !

Hey guys I’m new here I purchased a 03 Tahoe with a bad transmission and I replaced it with a transmission I got from the junk yard the transmission from the junk yard came out of an 04 and I had to change the tss due to different wiring connectors so yeah got everything together it drives in first and I can get it to shift to second I just have to time tha throttle and rpms just right but any ideas why it won’t shift I was thinking shift solenoid but I may be wrong any help would be greatly appreciated

My similar problem was a Vehicle Speed Sensor in my 4L60E - it read a zero MPH all the time. I put a new one in that reads a proper speed and my shifting has been correct ever since.

The Problem is rather simple...
Having the idea that installing a Junk-Yard Transmission was a good idea.

I do not know what is worse, 1 or 2?

-1: Installing a Remanufactured Transmission that works perfectly and came with a Warranty...
But not flushing the Cooler, cycling Debris through and destroying the Transmission and the Warranty.

-OR-

-2: Installing a Junk-Yard Transmission and having the expectation that it will actually work properly and NOT be a BAD Transmission...
Taking more Time and Money than if it was just done the right way the First Time.

???

I guess we Live and we Learn (Hopefully).

And thats your answer, Without a speed sensor signal it will not shift beyond secondas you say . Get that working the trains might work.
IMO salvage yard 60e is kinda like playing lotto so Good luck. But serioulsy you have to have speed sensor signal else it will not shift .

That means you still have no VSS signal so it still is not going to shift, This is where you need to concentrate effort , check wiring? does it have a reluctor on the output shaft . I ask that because well anythings possible . Until you get a VSS signal aka speedo working . You will not get the upshift it is that simple.

You may want to revisit this. You may have mismatched parts here.

I did this swap from large sensor to small one on my 95 impala no issues they also measure same so while possible not IMO likey issue. Signal can be seen in ohm setting on meter with wire disconnected from sendor seen asa flicker on needle if analog . Digital will show too but just jumping about random numbers. This can be measure all the way to pcm with harness plugged in. Its a simple low voltage plus generator. However volatge to low and on off to see in voltage sacle at least on my meter, Ocilliscope ideal if one available. it is a very low signal so even a slight corroded or bad connection can be an issue, Also ran into a couple rebuit units with reluctore not centered right this to can cause issues .
