I have a 1994 k1500 with the 4l60e, 1-2 shifts are delayed to redline and hard shift, and it won't shift up into 3rd or 4th,the gears are there but it won't shift properly, I've replaced my vss and 1-2 and 2-3 solenoids and it still does it, any advice? I don't have an obd1 scan tool either

 

This is going to be hard to diagnose without a scanner. You could start my unplugging the main trans connector on the right side of the trans, unplugging this connector makes the trans default to 3rd gear. The trans should start off in 3rd gear, if the trans does not have 3rd gear, then the trans is bad.

 

Does speedo work ? you can download EEHACK and get USB to ALDL connector and read codes and data with laptop. But if speedo not working adress that first IT MUST WORK .

 

EEHack is for LT1s, wont work on TBI. Can get OBD1 cable and TurnerPro though.

 

Ok I knew it worked in the era was not aware no definition file available for those with EEHACK will have to study on that , Seems ashame if no one made one. JHas proven to be super handy tool on my 95ss to solve various issues and troubleshoot

so I checked and I have 3rd still, still don't know why it won't shift right or shift into third on its own, country this be the pressure manifold switch?

 

Without scan data all you can do is guess.

What code does it show you? How are you reading the codes?

 

Yes i didnt even know he could read codes thats a big deal.

 

i used a wire to jump 2 of the ports on the obd1 port, the service engine light flashes a certain amount of times and that's your code, in my case it flashed twice then four times, giving me code 24 which is vss

 

just because speedo works doesn't mean PCM is seeing VSS signal. could be a problem with wiring or the DRAC.
