I'll note that the better 60s will probably come with a shorter arm.
My general feeling is that the short arm that does not require a full width cross member (like UMI, a company I like just fine usually) is substantially weaker using only the stock drilled cross member mount holes. This might help answer you question but sort of the . My .02. I like the full length adj BMR and tranny mount alot.

if you have a spohn body mount arm already you can use a BMR trans mount or modify a M6 mount atleast on LT1 cars you cna use a M6 mount with a spohn spacer block I dont know about LS1 cars if there the same or not
LT1 BMR TH400 mount TCC003
LT1 BMR TH350/powerglide TCC004
LS1 BMR TH400 mount TCC001
LS1 BMR TH350/powerglide TCC002
LT1 BMR TH400 mount TCC003
LT1 BMR TH350/powerglide TCC004
LS1 BMR TH400 mount TCC001
LS1 BMR TH350/powerglide TCC002

I know this may be a little late, but it may be your first gear planetarys. When I got my TH400 I didn't have it rebuilt before i put it in the car. First gear whined (kinda sounded like a straight cut gear manual transmission). When I had it rebuilt the trans shop said the 1st gear planets were bad. No more whine after the rebuild.
BTW, does anyone know if the TH400 crossmember for a 3rd gen will work in a 4th gen ??

I am using a A4 shifter with RMVB but i modified the gat on the shifter to work with it

Ok, I see so then really its just a pain in the *** shifting if you leave everything alone and use a reverse valve body.
I think I am just better off replacing my trans brake reverse valve body with a forward valve body, this way I won't have to worry about the shifter inconvience, having to wire up my trans brake for reverse, and the temptation for me to us the trans brake on my 10 bolt.

You can put an J.W. Performance Ultra-Bell Bellhousing on your TH400 (what I have). The original bellhousing gets machined off to install this one. It's SFI approved and yes, it is much stronger than stock. http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...48597_-1_76226

I just finished my th350 swap. A few mistakes I made that I would like to warn others about are: th400 crossmember will NOT fit a th350, Yank does not make a th350 crossmember(they send you a 4l60 crossmember with an extension which i did not like), transmission lines do not interchange, I had to drill my flexplate out to 3/4" holes to fit the converter, & MADMAN dipstick did not work for me( it was way too short i think they sent the wrong one).

Problem #2: I wanted to keep it cool because I drive it all the time on the street. So I bought 2 2800 B&M transcoolers. I just drove the car up and down the street and it got to 250 degrees.
Thanks for the input. Daniel

does it vibrate in neutral/park or just when driving?
maybe your lines are plugged/kinked somewhere. did you run fluid or breathe through them before installation?

It is a LT1. It vibrates in park, I never tried it in neutral. And also while driving.
All my lines are going staight to the coolers, no kinks. And their all brand new line and brand new coolers. I don't knwo how they could get clogged up. Thanks very much.

ok to add to the list incase anyone needs it, i have a th400 with the 4 inch tailshaft and a ford 9 inch rearend, the driveshaft measurement from center of the transmission yoke to the center u-joint on the rear end was 45 1/4, and the wires to the speed sensor that you need to cut are purple and yellow on the black connector, these are the wires you splice the connector into if you are switching from a m6. hope this helps

I am swapping a stock ( until I have the money to afford Mods ) 1998 LS1 into my Caprice, and reusing my TH350 trans with its TH350 3800 Holeshot TQ Converter, and it seems to bolt up to my 98 LS1 Flexplate but it doesnt have the extended snout on the TQ Converter, I Have seen that other Members have bolted their TH350 TQ Conveters to the 98 Flexplate and somehow Not used "Spacers/Washers/Adapters"......so I have 3 questions:
1) How is this done without having the snout of the Converter resting in the piolet housing of the Crank for the required support ?
2) If members are using the TQ Converter bolted the Flexplate without being correctly/properly supported in the piolet houseing, at what RPM does the flexplate start to flex/stress causing a Driveline vibration ?
3) Are there any members that have used "Spacers/Washers/Adapters" on this type of swap so that the TQ Converter can be properly/correctly supported as to not allow driveline vibrations? If so what is the PART NUMBERS /WEBSITE you used to get the "Spacers/Washers/Adapters" ?
Thanks for helping a noobie like me.

$138.49 before shipping from gmparts direct for flywheel and spacer...the bolts are around 5bucksi think...this looks like the cheapest route. If you are patient you will find one cheaper than that with the spacer and bolts in the for sale section from time to time.
