Default Th400 no front endplay

I am building a th400 and have zero forward endplay. My rear endplay is about .009-.010”. Even with the thinnest .060” pump washer I still have no endplay. If I completely remove the pump washer then I have about .010-.015” of endplay. I do have a sonnax forward hub in it and I also have a th350 pump bearing in the back of the case instead of the tang washer and brass washer. I am pretty sure that all the clutch packs and drums are seated all the way. I know for sure the forward drum is in all the way as I can reach in and feel a very small gap between it and the direct drum. What could be going on and what can I do fix it? Only thing I can think of is to start machining parts to add clearance.

Did you use the extreme duty hub part # 34322-02K? or the plain H-D hub part #34322-01?
The extreme hub adds .025 to it's cross section, the HD hub says it is thicker but does not give a specification.

Make sure the torrington bearings are faced correctly. I had a flange turned upside down once and didn't have end play.

Make sure the Sun gear is not upside down.
Put the factory hub back and check end play.
No need for clutches while checking this over again.

I used the extreme duty hub. I will check tomorrow if the Torrington bearing is upside down. I put the sun gear back in the way the witness marks appeared to line up but it may be upside down. I’ll take the clutches out tomorrow and verify everything again.

The flat end of the sun gear goes to the front. The beveled internal splined end goes to the rear. The bevel helps lube the torrington bearing.

I checked and the sun gear is the correct direction and the Torrington bearing. I removed all the clutches and rechecked and I still had no endplay. With the old forward hub in I do have a good amount of forward endplay. At this point I think I have no choice but to start machining parts to create clearance.

So now its time to check thickness of the washers for the hub. It is possible that someone has been there already and used a Sonnax selective washer. both washers should be approxamatly .063 thick. If they are I would call Sonnax teck support...

sorry just now getting back to the thread. After disassembling it and reassembling it a few times and checking the thickness I have determined that the bushing in the back of the case (which I replaced) was too tight and causing the output shaft to be held up ever so slightly I guess forcing everything forward and. Causing me to have no front end play. A little scotchbrite opened up the bearing and everything dropped right in.
