Default Two pink solenoids in 2001 4l60?

Found 2 of these in this build like a 1995 but the trani is a 98+ 2 piece bellhousing. Have anything to do with the 3-4 clutch burning up? Is it okay for it to be set up as such?

Odd set up, Put right ones in and harness should be fine. And no on the 3-4 burn. My first thought is was set up for a 95 but those are both late model 3-2 solenoids . The one with the unbroken clip I would put back in the 3-2 slot. Then get a proper 96 up PWM sol for the other.

Just a word of advice. When you patch up parts or use parts that are beyond their service limit at the request of the customer, when the repair goes south it will be your fault. The customer will forget that you said that the part needed to be replaced and will drag your reputation through the mud. Do the repairs the way that you feel they should be done or not at all. In the long run your business' reputation is way more important than trying to patch up a job trying to save some tight wad $40.

You're absolutely correct and I appreciate the reminder that the work that goes into my rebuilds is my reputation. I already told the owner he needs the proper solenoid instead of two pinks and he agreed at that point to set it up correctly!

Considering this is a '98 (or so), all new solenoids and harness might be a good idea.
If you aren't sure, get out a picture of yourself from '98 and compare with yourself in the mirror. Probably want to replace lots of parts. And we age slower than a transmission.

1995 uses the same solenoids for the TCC PWM & 3-2 Downshift. 1993-94 didn't use a 3-2 downshift solenoid. 1996 they went to the ON-OFF 3-2 solenoid with the grey connecter.
tekpak fitzall makes a repair clip for those.
