Default Gluing input seal and retainer?

Was watching a youtube video and the person mentioned this gluing. Any idea what special glue they would be using? Just curious.

I have used 3M Weather Strip Adhesive. Now I use Loctite 638, or you can just use nothing at all. I don't really think it make a difference.

You are asking about the front seal that goes into the pump?

I really see no need for glue on the front seal as with a new bushing or good one anyway you really should have no issues. If I were to used I would use either the loctite sleeve retainer mentioned or strange as sounds super glue just pray you never have to changes as it will bring aluminum out with it .
But generally I just use the seal and retainer, The only exceptions are transbrake units due to the quick extreme temp changes that can happen.

I like to put a thin skimming of black or grey silicone on the outer surface of most seals as a protection against future seepage due to minor surface irregularities or gouges/ scratches from poor seal removal.

The solution is drilling the drain back passage bigger and a good pump bushing.

wasnt it only the early 700 pumps that were drilled too small? i seem to remember transgo wanted you to drill it to 5/16 but it's been awhile... i put some green loctite on the input seal for a warm & fuzzy

Yeah, it was mostly the 700s but as you say I do them all for the warm & fuzzy. I agree with the green Loctite.

Yes that is it.

Green loctite, retaining compound? So then the paint if any on the seal case needs to be sanded off, to expose the reactive metal (steel), and for good measure the aluminum should have the primer to make it active?
Is that your process?

How to do the likes? It won't work for me anymore or I forgot how to.

I just put the Loctite on the seal and press it in. I think the paint as you call it is there to help the seal, seal to the housing. As Dixieband said earlier, I don't really think it is needed to hold the seal in. It just fills in any imperfections in the bore so a there no leakage around the outside of the seal.

I use red loctite. Makes me feel better about it.
