8HP Transmission
The idea is simple — make the swap behave like it came from the factory:
- No external TCM
- No CAN translation modules
- No valve body modifications
- Full OEM-style drivability and tuning control
👉 If this was available as a package:
- What platforms would you want it for?
- What concerns would you have?
- What would make or break the decision for you?

Transmission. The 8HP70 is the most common and handle about 600 HP stock. Can be found starting at $350.00. The 8HP90 is the big boy, comes in 900HP Dodge Hell Cats. They start around $2,500.00. Slightly larger than the 8HP70.
Bell housing adapter kit. $1,200.00 to $1,600.00. Includes torque converter adapter.
Electronics. Stand alone transmission controller TurboLamik with harness about $1,600.00 OR CanTCU with harness about $2,000.00 OR engine EFI system with integrated transmission controller, MaxxRCU Race ECU with harness about $2,100.00. Separate transmission controller NOT needed with this EFI ECU, saves money.
Driveshaft. Driveshaft Shop 3-1/2 inch shaft with plunging CV joint on front, U-Joint on the rear, about $900.00, Carbon Fiber, about $1,400.00.
The 8HP70 can be built to handle 1,000HP. There are some very expensive kits on the market but can be put together by piece for much less cost. Frictions, steels, some billet drums, etc. Simple build, none of the many mods needed like the 4L80E does.

Why a CV joint not a U-joint at the transmission? It avoids needing an expensive slip joint in the driveshaft and at higher speeds and power levels, a U-joint on the transmission output shaft can cause problems.
