Default 1-2 shift problem

I just had a Transgo shift kit installed and now my car (2001 Z28 Conv) feels like it dies when it shifts to second gear. The car also has a Vig 3000 converter. All was fine before the shift kit. If I let up and get back in it all is OK.

HELP!!!

Thanks,
Vince

If you have "torque management", this will happen. You have to disable it. Once you disable this, you can increase the 2nd, 3rd, & 4th gear feed holes in the valve body plate. This can extend the life of the transmission, whilr firming up the WOT shifts.

Thanks. I am new to the LS1 cars. How should I disable torque management?

I thought that the torque manangement was only on the shift. What is happening on mine is that the car will stay at about 4200 RPM after the 1-2 shift until I let off the throttle. It will only rev in second if I let off and get back on it. This only seems to happen at 3/4 to full throttle. Still torque management? Are you near Pgh PA? I appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Vince

Torque management can be a killer, but also I had to raise the rev limiter on my car when I had the TC installed. It was hitting the limiter on the 1-2 shift at WOT every time. I only have a HPPC 3 to adjust mine, but it at least allowed me to raise the limiter to stop the engine from virtually shutting down on the shift.

ProBuilt, How can disable the Torque management? I am in Pittsburgh PA. If you are close I would be hapy to bring the car to you. What would you charge to check it out and possibly fix it?

Thanks,
Vince

I got into something like this while I was trying to
make a "soft" torque management. The deal seemed
to be, if enough timing got pulled, the thing would
go to some kind of "purgatory" - drop enough RPM
back that it didn't quite want to shift, or something.

Best bet is probably the PCM sections and your local
section, call out for someone w/ HPTuners and your
model/year. That's the only tool that isn't all locked
up from helping your buddy (just by year and vehicle
type).
