Which converter is right for me?

Which converter is right for me? I am looking for a converter for my 98 trans am with 99000 miles on it. Its an everyday driver with 3:23 gears. I want it to be very driveable around town, everywhere. But would also like it to hook up good and drop me near a second in the quarter. Any complete set ups (converter, shift kit, cooler) you guys would suggest? Thanks ahead.

a second in the quarter....ummm that might be stretching it alittle bit, but i dont know what you have done to your car. plus with 99K the motor may be a lil tired. have you replaced the trans, rear yet? need more info on your mods in order to pik which converter

Dropping an entire second may be asking about a 1/2 of a second too much. I have about 400 rwhp and ran 1.7s on drag radials with a 2800. The vig 2800 is very street friendly. Im turning up my converter to a 3600 and adding et streets and prostars, more suspension etc. I dont think that drag radials will hold on a 3600 for you. I would say that a 2800 - to 3000 would be good for you and still have good street manners but you wont shave off a second off your time. If you get hooked, youll probably later go bigger with slicks etc.

As for what I have, Percision Industries Vig 3200, its a very streetable converter. Its obvious when driving around that its stalled but its not unstreetable. 2500rpm or so keeps you up with traffic and lay on it and you'll pull hard at any speed.

You aren't going to see a 1 second drop from a converter swap with 3.23s. Likewise the converters that will get you close will have the worst street manners.
