If it's only in one gear it's likely something to do w/the trans or the converter(possibly).

You and I aren't the only ones that have posted about vibrations after installing a TCI converter.Could this be the problem? It could be (along with a few other things) but I have not done enough w/my vibration problem to say it is or is not the cause.

Maybe someone else will chime in with their results.

In the meantime:Have you checked your pinion angle? Are you using a poly transmount?

I'm getting a weird vibration from mine too, but only after the verter locks up.

I don't know if yours is a lockup problem, but try to re-create the problem, then tap on the brake pedel. If it stops, it's a lockup problem.

I'm still trying to figure out how to fix it. No one's helping me out

I know it's a pain, but try rotating the converter.

In case the converter is out of balance? Do you think this could be the problem if the vibration is only in one or two gears?

I think a one gear vibration would almost have to be a problem in the trans unless there are unknown factors.

The 4l60e is very picky about weight. Heck, the guys that installed mine even weighed and made sure the bolts were all the same weight before reinstalling mine.

There were several posts about this before and several of us had success in rotating the converter to remove the vibration.

thanks for the suggestion

you can also try rotating the driveshaft 180 deg. to the pinion yoke. EVERY vibration I have ever chased in my car has turned out to be u-joint/pinion angle/trans mount vibration. Check the easy stuff first.

Exactly what I was thinking. If it was a weight imbalance, you think it'd be matched to the RPM/speed, not the gear it's in

i had a similar tranny issue, the Trans shop found a worn planetary. The trans has been rebuilt with Z pack cluthes and a bunch of other goodies. Also run a custom billet converter with a larger lock-up band, pretty trick stuff, this converter flashes about 3000 G of the brake. Hope you find out soon.

After my Yank install, I had chatter/vibration. We tried everything. Then we realized it was because the converter was locking up too low in the RMP range. I had some tuning done to adjust the lock and unlock points and all my problems went away and have not returned.

Hope this helps.
