B&M Converter
Why not buy these much cheaper converters? What's wrong with them? My friend had one in his step side 350 Chevy for nearly 2 years and loved it. I'm in the market for either a true dual setup, or a converter for my A4 tranny. I can get the B&M for pennies compared to the other namebrand converters. Any reason why I shouldn't? Hell, I could buy two of them and still come out cheaper than most namebrand stalls.
I'm on dial up at the gf's house. I searched once, so don't break my ***** if this is a re.

I've always been a firm believe in that philosophy as well, but since my friend really loved his, I was wondering if they're ok to run. I also had a buddy with a LT1 car that went 7.70's all motor run one. I was just wondering why no one does. If they're POS's then I'll buy something else, if not, I want to buy a B&M.
I forgot who said it but you can look at it this way too: You can go with a cheaper converter and give up the extra tenth and/or mph gain, but then in the name of going faster, you're going to drop more money later to regain that tenth or mph. Now what have you really saved? What happens when a car with similar mods is faster?
Another thing is whether the part is proven. Some things like air lids, it's proven they're all the same so go with the least expensive. Others, like converters, are proven the more expensive ones are typically faster. I'm not saying drop $800-1000 on a Yank or something, but like a TCI is around $500 and is proven to work very well.

The main reasons there isnt much info on the B&M converter is because it hasnt really seen much testing on the newer f-body's. As time goes on you might hear about a few guys using this converter but right now nobody is taking chances. If you get a "cheap" (cheap made, not cheap price) converter you take a chance of the converter that wont work properly and could possibly F! up the transmission.
ALL converters will/should increase performance. However you will want to buy a good quality converter. This is why most people get TCI, VIG, or YANK.

Uhmm, we (B&M) do not have any LS1 converters out ... YET! I am in charge of the project to bring two/three possible converters to the LS1 market. You cannot fit an older (SBC) converter onto a (stock) LS1. We are not going to build them for all out racing, but rather for the street/strip enthusiasts you are looking for better performance out of their 4L60E equipt car.
Our converter are not cheap, low quality ... we are looking into building a great converter for this market. Testing will be ongoing on my (now) stock SS to see what the performance increase will be. These converters will be at an affordable price, comparable with TCI, MidWest, and other value priced converters.
