Car stalling when its put in gear?
I am having problem with my car. The car is tunned and runs great. When i go to put it in gear it falls on its ***. Sometimes i can hold the brake, give it a little gas and roll it out. Also it has done the same thing when stopped. Is this a transmision problem or still a issue with the tune etc? It drives fine but once in awile it slips a little like up hills etc.. It has 57,000 miles on the tranny and plenty of passes and nitros ran through it. Just looking to see if i am on track with this. I am almost postive its the tranny, just looking for some reasurance before spending the cash on a built one. Any help is appreciated..Thanks In Advance

I havent really got use to the converter yet and i know this sounds stupid, but how do you tell if its locked or unlkocked? How do you lock or unlock it? I thought about messing with the turn screw, but i wasnt sure if it was a good idea with it being tunned. It only acts up when its under load under idel conditions. The more i talk the more i am answering my own question. I think i need to figure out how to use this converter and read up on it a little more. I have just been driving it and not knowingly locking or unlocking the converter.. I know at some point the stock tranny is going away, but i dont want to mess with it till its shot. The trottle body was drilled when we did the heads and cam, not sure that matters with the turn screw.. Thanks Again..

My car does this all the time when cold and occasionally when warmed up. I've got a pretty hot cam. Once the car is in gear, everything is fine. When I put it in gear the revs drop just like on all stock automatics and with the cam that sudden drop makes it fall on it's face. I was wondering if a stall converter would prevent the revs from dropping when I put it in gear?

A Stall does help tame a big cam down when at idle.

Possible answer: Mine did that when I had my cam installed and I was running NGK TR6 plugs. I changed back to TR55's and it helped, but, I still needed a tune. I had my car tuned and it helped, then, I put TR6's back in it. I think the TR6 colder plug with the .035 gap is what's causing the problem. I'll post and let you know as soon as I chnage back to the TR55's. Just my theory that seems to be the issue. Maybe yours is the same ... will let you know.
