Screw 4L60E
I am tired of this thing blowing up. This is the 4th trans in 5 years on my 95. I am going to change to the TH400 like the big boys run in 4th gens. Does anybody know of any conversion kits to make this swap simplier?

is your car really heavy or something? I have been racing my car for over 3 years now and just now took the trans out to get it looked at and has fresh parts put in. But when I took mine out it wasn't really F'UP like I didn't have any gears or it wasn't really slipping bad, I just wanted fresh parts in it. When they got into it, it looks like the forward cluthes weren burnt up a little and the 3-4 that I thought was going to be the worse of all wasn't even that bad either, but since we had it apart we threw some brand new and better parts in it.

My third 4l60e tranny in just over 2 years went in the car last weekend. One of the other local guys went through 7 in a year before he found a good builder (and vaccuum modulation.) Have you tried vaccum modulation on any of the 4l60's? What about stronger parts? Have you considered a 4l80? How much street vs. track driving are you doing?
The street driving seems to be harder on the 4l60's than the track is....but a th400 is not all that friendly for street driving...at least in my opinion.

The car is not that heavy and I dont see much track runs, I am rough with it on the street. I just cant find good builders that put the parts in that they say they are. Most of the really fast 4th gens have junked the 4L60 in favor of older style trans. And why would a TH400 not be street friendly? Its still overdrive.

Most of the really fast 4th gens are track only cars and see minimal street time. This is why a th400 doesn't bother them. Of course going down the highway at 55mph with a th400 you're at some insanely high rpms...you'll pass everything but a gas station. Now they do make an overdrive kit for the th400, but from what I know that adds a couple thousand dollars to the cost of the tranny (search Gear Venders Overdrive.... I think that's the spelling of it...if not..it's close)
Sounds like you need to do some more research into what options you have. You might need to go with a 4l60e builder that isn't local (definitely look into vaccum modulation if you haven't already)...or read more about the th400 setup in one of these cars. Or another option that people have recently started experimenting with is the 4l80. I know they have it working with an ls1 engine, I don't know about an lt1 though, it is something you'd have to look into. (Just so you know..the 4l80 has the same internals as a th400, but 4th gear is overdrive like it would be in a 4l60. It's heavier than a 4l60 or th400, but it's something I'm looking into for a mainly street car that doesn't see a lot of track time if I keep blowing 4l60's.)

FLP stage 4 here. 600 rwhp+ on nitrous and not a glitch. Vacuum modulated is where it is at.
You could get a stage 5 also (4L65E)
Chuck at FLP builds the best. It's either that or Rossler.

Ditto, my trans nails each gear with no slip at the track or on the street while upshifting, but if I downshift at highway speeds from a 4-2 or 3-2 punch at WOT it slips like a bitch for about a second. If your doing a bunch of 60 punches, its best to pull it down to second before you go. I may be able to cure the 4-2 slip with tuning but i've not looked into yet.

I have a few parts in mine #24 on 4l60-e.com and it has run mid 11's plenty of times, daily driver. Local guy built it and he also built 2 of my friend's 4l60 which have 3 things in them:
1. Kevlar Band
2. Shift Kit
3. Servo
And 1 runs high 10s and other low 11's for so long i cant even remember...
It depends who builds it and how it is built the stock parts are stronger than u think...its how the builder makes the tranny shift and specing things that counts so i am told and looks to me like its true
